The JAG students had a great experience in Washington D.C. last week at the JAG National Student Leadership Conference. The students started early with a visit to the office of Congresswoman McIver in the Cannon House Office Building. Next, they met Marshall Burkhardt and Lilly Antonowic, legislative assistants from the office of NJ Senator Andy Kim (Kim was appointed to the Senate on Sunday, 12/8/24) and finally a meeting with Gloria Nunez, Budget Appropriations for Senator Cory Booker - all before noon!
During a kickoff luncheon, the students met the first JAG student, Dr. Darren Brookston, had advocacy trading for their day on the Hill and networked during a ‘Chaos Extreme Team Building Workshop!’
“O.C.E.A.N., Inc. truly makes a difference for the students” said Maureen Neuner, JAG Coordinator at Pinelands Regional High School. “We would not be able to experience all the things we do and be so successful if it wasn't for you. We will always be grateful for your generosity and kindness.”
JAG at Pinelands Regional High School is a subgrantee of O.C.E.A.N., Inc. Community Action Agency. The program is funded in part by O.C.E.A.N., Inc. through the CSBG Non-Discretionary Grant provided by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
